Ukraine opens registration of commercial vessels to pass via provisional corridors - Navy

MOSCOW. Aug 14 (Interfax) - After announcing provisional safety corridors for commercial vessels moving to or out of Ukraine's Black Sea ports on August 8, Ukraine has opened registration for vessels planning to use them, Ukrainian media reported citing Ukrainian Navy spokesperson Dmitry Pletenchuk as saying.

"The registration has been opened, and the coordinator is working already," Pletenchuk said during a national TV marathon on Saturday.

The Ukrainian Navy will not publicize the results of these measures for the time being, he said.

Ship owners and captains have been warned that some danger, including that of mines, still exists, Pletenchuk said. "We're doing everything within our power to ensure safety," he said.
