Ukrainians in Poland may get pensions by postal transfer

MOSCOW. Aug 11 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian government has approved a pilot whereby the national postal service (Ukrposhta) can wire pensions and financial assistance to recipients who are temporarily outside Ukraine.

"The innovation will make it easier to receive a pension and other types of financial assistance which our citizens, while in Ukraine, received by post and had no current account opened with an authorized bank," the Ukrainian media reported, citing the press service of the country's Ministry of Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories.

To that end, a person should file a paper or electronic application with the Ukrposhta.

"The service of paying and delivering a pension or financial assistance abroad will be primarily available to Ukrainians in Poland. If necessary, the experiment will be introduced in other countries too," the statement said.

The service will be free of charge, it added.
