Ukrainian farmers harvest 1.45 mln tonnes of vegetables - Agrarian Policy Ministry

MOSCOW. Aug 9 (Interfax) - Ukrainian farmers have grown 1.45 million tonnes of vegetable crops in 2023, which were harvested from 88,400 hectares (23.2% of total sown areas) with an average yield of 163.9 c/ha, Ukrainian media reported citing the press service for the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry.

Overall, Ukraine has grown 105,400 tonnes of cabbage, 310,300 tonnes of cucumbers, 175,000 tonnes of tomatoes, 428,000 tonnes of onions, 51,700 tonnes of carrots, 35,300 tonnes of sugar beets, and 344,300 tonnes of other vegetables.

As of August 9, cucumbers were harvested in Ukraine on more than half of the area, or 51.4%, the ministry said. Farmers of the Vinnitsa and Ivano-Frankovsk regions have fully completed their harvesting.

The situation is similar with the harvest of onions, which is collected on 51.4% of the area. The harvesting of onions has been completed in the Ivano-Frankovsk and Kharkov regions and almost completed in the Kiev-controlled part of the Kherson region.

In total, 711,500 tonnes of potatoes have been harvested, with an average yield of 13.9 tonnes per hectare. The highest yield of potatoes is in the farms of the Khmelnitsky region with 29 tonnes per hectare, the Agrarian Policy Ministry said.
