Russian E-commerce market grows 20% in H1 to 2.7 trln rubles - Association

MOSCOW. Aug 9 (Interfax) - E-commerce sales volumes in Russia in H1 2023 reached 2.7 trillion rubles, an increase of 20% compared to the same period last year, the Association of Internet Commerce Companies reported.

97% of this amount came from purchases in Russian companies in the e-commerce sector, while the share of cross-border purchases was 2.8%.

The share of e-commerce as a percentage of total retail sales was 12.7%.

The top five most popular products were digital and household appliances (value of internet purchases was 522.5 billion rubles, and share of total sales was 19.1%); furniture and household goods (459 billion rubles, 16.8%); clothing and footwear (427 billion rubles, 15.6%); food products (349 billion rubles, 12.7%); and health and beauty products (225.5 billion rubles, 8.2%).

The most active regions for e-commerce are still Moscow, the Moscow Region and St. Petersburg.
