Ukrainian Cabinet proposes ending double tax avoidance agreement with Iran

MOSCOW. Aug 7 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Cabinet of ministers has proposed that the Verkhovna Rada terminate an agreement on the avoidance of double taxation between the Ukrainian and the Iranian government.

Meeting last Friday, the government approved a bill on terminating an agreement between the Ukrainian and the Iranian government on the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of income and property tax evasion signed in Tehran on May 21, 1996, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the government's representative to the Rada Taras Melnichuk.

The bill's enactment would promote the phasing out of Ukraine's economic and financial ties with Iran as a country that, as believed in Kiev, is actively cooperating with Russia, they said.
