Poland asks for 1 bln euros from European Commission to develop logistics for Ukrainian agrifood transit

MOSCOW. Aug 4 (Interfax) - Poland estimates investments in its logistical infrastructure for stepping up exports of Ukrainian grain and other agricultural foodstuffs at 1 billion euros, and it has submitted the relevant estimates to the European Commission, Ukrainian media reported with reference to polskieradio24.pl.

"European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced the European Union's financing for these purposes a few months ago. However, she did not provide specifics. Poland has submitted detailed estimates of the necessary investments to EU diplomats and officials," Polish media reported with reference to a letter they possess.

Poland needs about 500 million euros to expand border terminals for large trucks at the Dorohusk-Yagodin, Hrebenne-Rava Ruska, and Korczowa-Krakovets border crossings, as well as the railway infrastructure in Przemysl. Poland views these investments as a priority.

The rest of over 500 million euros would finance the modernization of railway border crossings between Poland and Ukraine, the construction of truck terminals, and the development of infrastructure for managing truck traffic across the border.
