PM Shmygal admits partners' support for Ukraine may decline after crisis ends

MOSCOW. Aug 3 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal admits that partners' support for Ukraine will be reduced after the crisis is over.

"The return of people, Ukrainians, labor force is what will prevent our country from sliding into recession and depression after the crisis is over," Ukrainian media quoted Shmygal as saying at a conference of Ukrainian ambassadors in Uzhgorod on Thursday.

This should be worked on today, the prime minister said. "We should think about both today and tomorrow. We spoke frankly about this yesterday during a meeting with the president and the heads of the [President's] Office, the support will decline over time, the attention to Ukraine will diminish, and those things about the return of people, this will all fall on our shoulders," the prime minister said.

"Partners are supporting us now. The crisis will end, the support will be reduced and we will be left virtually alone with our problems. This should be taken into account and we should make every effort today," Shmygal said.
