Ukraine's DTEK Energo completes third of planned repairs at thermal power plants

MOSCOW. Aug 3 (Interfax) - DTEK Energo specialists have completed one-third of the planned amount of repairs at units of Ukraine's thermal power plants as part of preparations for the upcoming heating season, Ukrainian media said, citing the company's press service.

Repairs had been concluded at nine power units by the beginning of August, but they continue at another seven, DTEK Energo said. The company plans to repair 27 power units before the end of the year.

The amount of investments made in the scheduled maintenance program since the beginning of the year currently stands at around two billion hryvni.

"We abide by our schedule and hope to enter the winter prepared," DTEK Energo CEO Ildar Saleyev said.

As reported, DTEK Energo repaired 26 units of thermal power plants in 2022, investing some 2.2 billion hryvni in such efforts last year.

Saleyev said in an interview with Ukrainian media in early July that DTEK Energo would raise investments in scheduled maintenance and repairs of thermal power plants by 1.6-fold to 3.5 billion hryvni in 2023 year-on-year. The increase in spending has been prompted by the need for more serious repairs at power units due to their intensive operations during the 2022-2023 heating season and inflation.

At the same time, Saleyev drew a line between scheduled maintenance and restoration work at power generation equipment. Approximately seven billion hryvni is needed for these purposes.
