Ukraine spends some 2 trillion hryvni on its army today - PM

MOSCOW. Aug 3 (Interfax) - Ukraine's current defense spending amounts to around two trillion hryvni a year, Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said.

"In times of peace, revenue in the Ukrainian budget stood at 1.3 trillion hryvni. Today, we have earmarked 1.3 trillion hryvni in the budget for the Armed Forces, allocated an additional 509 billion hryvni for the year, and will now allocate roughly the same amount. As a matter of fact, the Armed Forces cost Ukraine about two trillion hryvni today," Ukrainian media quoted Shmygal as saying at a conference of Ukrainian ambassadors on Thursday.

Other funds are provided to Ukraine by partners, he said.
