Moldova to denounce another seven CIS agreements

CHISINAU. Aug 3 (Interfax) - Moldova will quit seven agreements with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the government press service said on Thursday, citing a government decision.

Most of the documents that will be denounced relate to energy. Moldova is set to denounce the agreement on coordination between CIS member states in the electric power sector signed in Minsk on February 14, 1992, the agreement on the parallel operation of CIS member states' power grids signed in Moscow on November 25, 1998, and the agreement on the transit of energy and electricity between CIS member states signed in Moscow on January 25, 2000.

It also plans to denounce the agreement on promoting a coordinated oil and petroleum product transit policy signed in Moscow on April 12, 1996, and the resolution of the CIS Council of the Heads of State on a unified time for raising the indices for devices metering electricity supplied by interstate power transmission lines in CIS member states signed in Minsk on November 24, 2006.

In addition, Moldova will denounce the agreement on cooperation in ensuring unity of time and frequency measurements signed in Bishkek in 1992, and the agreement on returning cultural and historical valuables to their countries of origin signed in Minsk in 1992.

Over the past two months, the Moldovan parliament and government have denounced over a dozen CIS agreements.
