Rostelecom to acquire 35% stake in education platform Megacampus

MOSCOW. Aug 3 (Interfax) - Rostelecom is investing in Megacampus LLC and will acquire a 35% stake in the developer of the eponymous P2P education platform as a result, the Russian national telecom provider reported.

Megacampus LLC is now equally owned by its CEO Grigory Avetov and Vadim Lobov, data from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities showed. The company was incorporated in 2010 with charter capital of 250,000 rubles.

Rostelecom did not specify how much it is investing in Megacampus. Avetov was reported as saying in the press release that the proceeds from the deal will go toward the developing the company's platform solutions and products and bolstering its team.

"We plan to become a full-fledged player in the creative economy, providing high quality and transparent digital tools for content creators, the main drivers of the growth of this sector of our country's economy. The equity investment in the Megacampus platform is the first step in realizing these plans," Rostelecom's director of new digital products, Andrei Kushnarev said.

Megacampus is a peer-to-peer platform for the creation, promotion and sale of online courses. The platform currently has 15,000 users, including authors, teachers, producers and students.
