Cherkizovo building 4 bln ruble factory in Tula Region to process meat by-products - authorities

TULA. Aug 2 (Interfax) - Cherkizovo - Meat Products LLC (part of the Cherkizovo Group of Companies ) plans to commission a plant for processing livestock by-products at a site in the Efremov district of the Tula region in 2024, the press service of the regional government reported following a meeting of the investment commission on Wednesday.

The volume of investments in the project will be about 4 billion rubles.

At the meeting, it was decided to provide a subsidy to the city of Efremov for the construction of a high-pressure gas pipeline for the implementation of an investment project. The length of the gas pipeline will be 5.9 km.

"The cost of construction is 135 million rubles. It will be conducted on terms of co-financing: 50% from investor funds and 50% from the funds of the regional consolidated budget," a related press release says.

As reported, a strategic investment agreement was signed at the 2021 St. Petersburg Economic forum on the creation of a meat-processing cluster in the Efremov Priority Development Area in the Tula Region with an investment of more than 50 billion rubles.

Anastasia Mikhailova, Communications Director of the Cherkizovo Group, on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2023, told Interfax that the meat-processing cluster in the Tula region remains a high priority for Cherkizovo. The cluster will include two factories for slaughtering and processing broilers and pigs, as well as a sausage shop, she said. "In addition, we plan to build a plant for the production of meat and bone meal from the by-products of slaughter and processing. This meal is used in animal feed," she noted.

Cherkizovo - Meat Products LLC is a resident of the Efremov Priority Development Area.
