EU countries, Moldova transported 589 mcm of gas to Ukraine in July

MOSCOW. Aug 2 (Interfax) - Ukraine received 589 million cubic meters of natural gas in July 2023, with more than 99% of this amount transported for storage under the customs warehouse rules and as short-haul volumes.

"The main amounts were brought to Ukraine by non-resident traders for storage," Ukrainian media said, citing a press release circulated by Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine (GTSOU) LLC on Wednesday.

In particular, the amount of gas delivered from Hungary stood at 223.8 mcm, or 38% of the total volume of gas transported to Ukraine in July, 142.9 mcm (24%) arrived in Ukraine from Moldova, 119.6 mcm (20%) from Slovakia, and 102.8 mcm (18%) from Poland.

"As European gas storage facilities are more than 85% full today, European traders have started to use Ukraine's gas infrastructure more actively," the company said.

The amount of gas transported to Ukraine in July for storage under the customs warehouse rules and as short-haul volumes was the largest since the start of the crisis, it said. Such deliveries by non-residents began in 2023 earlier than in 2022.
