Ukrainian Railways increases number of services by one-third, carries 70% more passengers in July 2023 year-on-year - statement

MOSCOW. Aug 1 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia, or UZ), Ukraine's national railway company, increased the number of services by one-third and transported nearly 70% more passengers in July 2023 compared to July 2022, Ukrainian media reported with the company's social media post.

"While 1.482 million passengers travelled by train in July 2022, this number reached 2.513 million this past July," the company said.

"The number of services last month grew significantly to 2,613 compared to 1,988 in July last year," it said.

Hence, UZ completed 31% more services and transported nearly 70% more passengers in July 2023 compared to July 2022.

The number of domestic services grew by 29% and international ones by 43%, it said.

In addition, the passenger load factor on long-distance trains reached 97%, which means that most of UZ's trains were fully occupied.
