Ukrainian Foreign Ministry invites Polish ambassador over senior official's remarks

MOSCOW. Aug 1 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has invited Polish Ambassador to Ukraine Bartosz Cichocki over remarks by Marcin Przydacz, head of the International Policy Bureau at the Chancellery of the Polish President.

The ambassador was informed that statements alleging that Ukrainians are not grateful enough for Poland's help are untrue and unacceptable, Ukrainian media reported with reference to Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Oleg Nikolenko's commentary.

"We are convinced that Ukrainian-Polish friendship is much more profound than political expediency. Politics should not call into question mutual understanding and durability of relations between our peoples," the ministry said.

Speaking on Poland's TVP radio earlier, Przydacz said Kiev had received substantial support from Warsaw and "should begin to value the role that Poland has played for Ukraine in recent months and years."
