BAKU. July 28 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian spoke on the phone on Thursday to exchange opinions on issues on the bilateral and regional agenda and the situation in the region in the post-conflict period, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.

The diplomats discussed issues following from the last meeting between the co-chairs of the Azerbaijani-Iranian state commission for economic, trade, and humanitarian cooperation.

"At the same time, Bayramov said the statements circulated recently on the humanitarian situation surrounding the Lachin road and in the region are nothing but political manipulation. It was stressed that the Armenian side should put an end to provocations in the region and respect Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty in words and in actions," it said.

Bayramov and Amir-Abdollahian also highlighted the importance of addressing some outstanding issues on the bilateral agenda between Azerbaijan and Iran, it said.

Bayramov stressed during the conversation that Azerbaijan strongly denounced some inappropriate deeds against the Quran in certain Scandinavian countries and called for refraining from such acts directed against the Islamic religion, the ministry said.
