Lukashenko appoints new Minister of Transport and General Director of Naftan

MINSK. July 28 (Interfax) - President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko appointed Aleksey Lyakhnovich, previously first deputy head of the Ministry of Transport, as Minister of Transport and Communications, the presidential press service said.

The previous minister was Aleksey Avramenko, who died suddenly in early July.

Lukashenko also appointed Oleg Zhebin as General Director of Naftan to replace Andrei Soiko, CEO of the enterprise since October 2020. Previously, Zhebin was Naftan's deputy general director for chemical production, and headed the company's Polimir plant.

The president also dismissed Igor Brylo, Minister of Agriculture and Food, who was transferred to the post of assistant to the president and inspector for the Vitebsk region. As of yet, the appointment of a new Minister of Agriculture and Food has not been announced.
