Kim Jong Un, Shoigu discuss defense, security cooperation at Pyongyang meeting - N. Korean media

BEIJING. July 28 (Interfax) - North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has held negotiations with the Russian delegation led by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, who attend events marking the 70th anniversary of the end of the Korean War in Pyongyang, Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.

The parties " sincerely discussed some issues arising in further developing the strategic and tactical collaboration and cooperation between the two countries in the field of defense and security," KCNA said.

Kim Jong Un presented the principle position of the Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK government "on the rapidly changing international security environment and the military and political situation of the Korean Peninsula and exchanged views with Sergei Shoigu on many issues," it said.

The North Korean leader then hosted a reception for the Russian delegation.

In turn, Shoigu thanked Kim Jong Un for "paying special attention to him and his military delegation's Pyongyang visit and lavishing warm hospitality on them," KCNA said.

The Russian delegation has left Pyongyang, it said, adding that "goodwill mission of Russia made a meaningful contribution to further developing the traditional DPRK-Russia relations of friendship."
