BRICS countries agree to develop exchange of Earth remote sensing data - Roscosmos head

MOSCOW. July 27 (Interfax) - The experiment to exchange Earth remote sensing satellite data between the BRICS countries has been recognized as successful, Roscosmos General Director Yury Borisov said.

The sides have agreed to develop interaction in this area, he said.

"We have conducted an experiment within BRICS for an Earth remote sensing system since 2021. That is, certain regions of the BRICS countries were selected where information was collected over a long period of time to monitor the situation [...] The experiment has been positively assessed, and agreement was reached to continue it; that is, to make the receipt of information more informative and prompt," Borisov said in an interview with the Rossiya-24 (VGTRK) television channel.

According to Roscosmos, the heads of the BRICS countries' space agencies signed an agreement on cooperation in exchanging remote sensing satellite data on August 18, 2021.

BRICS comprises Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
