Angola interested in working with Tatarstan on oil production and processing

KAZAN. July 27 (Interfax) - Angola, one of the largest oil-producing countries in Africa, has shown interest in the experience of companies from Tatarstan in the field of oil refining, the press service of the head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said following a meeting with Angolan Foreign Minister Tete Antoniou at the Russia-Africa forum in St. Petersburg on Thursday.

"We are interested in your experience in oil refining. We want to improve both the efficiency of oil production and the quality of its processing," the Angolan Foreign Minister said, noting that several new oil refineries have recently opened in his country.

"The minister said there is an interest in developing cooperation in sectors such as the exploration and production of hydrocarbons, especially since Tatarstan has serious experience in this area," the press release says.

Oil in Tatarstan is produced by Tatneft and about 30 small oil companies. Oil production in the republic is carried out in conditions of a high degree of exploration, significant depletion of the main deposits and an increase in the share of heavy sour oil of increased viscosity in the total production volume.

Oil refining in Tatarstan is done by TANECO refineries, part of Tatneft and TAIF-NK, part of TAIF.
