Roscosmos discussing provision of launch services with equatorial African countries

MOSCOW. July 27 (Interfax) - African countries are seeing an increased demand for launch services, Roscosmos head Yury Borisov has said.

In connection with this, Roscosmos has offers for the countries located close to the equator, he said.

"We are trying to meet this demand with certain offers [for launch services]. These are countries that are close to the equator, which have areas for [spacecraft] to impact in the ocean to avoid creating security threats," Borisov said in an interview with the Rossiya 24 (VGTRK) television channel.

The demand for launch services is growing, and Africa's geographical position near the equator provides certain advantages, he said.
