UN FAO invites local suppliers to submit offers for winter barley, wheat seeds for Ukraine

MOSCOW. July 26 (Interfax) - The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United States has announced a tender for procuring winter barley and wheat seeds that will be distributed among micro- and small-sized farming households in Ukraine as support for the upcoming sowing campaign in the fall of this year, the organization's office in Ukraine said.

"This effort is part of the FAO Rapid Response Program for Ukraine in 2023. Its goal is to provide support to some 5,000 farmers," it said.

The program covers several Ukrainian regions, including the Dnepropetrovsk, Nikolayev, Odessa, Sumy, Kharkov, and Chernigov regions. It will provide each farmer with two tonnes of seeds of one winter crop, which is enough to sow ten hectares.

The tender for winter barley and wheat seeds is available to Ukrainian suppliers only.

The submission deadline is August 4.
