Transportation Ministry seeking to simplify registering ships legislatively - Savelyev
MOSCOW. July 24 (Interfax) - Russia's Transportation Ministry is seeking to simplify the governmental registration of seafaring vessels, Transportation Minister Vitaly Savelyev said on Monday during a meeting of the presidium of the United Russia faction in the State Duma.
"Our immediate plans include amendments to the legislation that provide for government support for shipbuilding and shipping, as well as simplification of governmental registration of inland and mixed navigation ships," Savelyev said.
Deputy Transportation Minister Alexander Poshivay explained to journalists that this meant the extension of international rules.
"The rules for the operation of the international registry of ships are ending for us in 2027 and, accordingly, we must extend it in advance, so that those ships that have been registered also continue to enjoy the benefits that they currently enjoy," Poshivay explained.
