McDonald's opens first restaurant on highway in Ukraine

MOSCOW. July 21 (Interfax) - McDonald's, the fast food chain, on July 21 opened its first restaurant near a highway in Ukraine; the location is on the Kiev-Chop highway in the Zhitomir region, 127 km away from Kiev, Ukrainian media reported citing the company's press service.

The opening of a new McDonald's restaurant in Ukraine is an important sign for business, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Alexander Kubrakov said.

Occupying an area of more than 500 sq. m, the new McDonald's is now one of the largest in Europe. It has 113 seats inside and 116 on a terrace.

McDonald's Ukraine Ltd. (incorporated in the form of enterprise with foreign investments) is developing the network in the country. It opened its first catering business on May 24, 1997 in Kiev.

As reported previously, McDonald's began reopening restaurants in Ukraine in a phased manner on September 20, 2022. Before February 24, 2022, the McDonald's in Ukraine network operated 109 restaurants in 24 Ukrainian cities.

As of July 21, more than 90 McDonald's restaurants are operating in Ukraine.
