Armenia hopes to restore crossing point on border with Turkey soon

YEREVAN. July 20 (Interfax) - Yerevan is actively working to rebuild a crossing point on the Armenian-Turkish border, head of Armenia's State Revenue Committee Rustam Badasyan said.

"Decisions were adopted at meetings of the Armenian government to allocate the required funds. Active construction efforts are ongoing at the Margara crossing point [on the border with Turkey]," Badasyan told reporters after a government meeting on Thursday.

He declined to say when this work would be completed, but provided assurances that "it will happen soon."

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed the process of normalizing relations between the two countries and the implementation of agreements on opening the Armenian-Turkish border for citizens of third countries and holders of diplomatic passports during a phone call in late June.
