Ireland providing extra 5 million euros in humanitarian aid to Ukraine

MOSCOW. July 19 (Interfax) - Ireland's Prime Minister Leo Varadkar has announced granting Ukraine additional five million euros in humanitarian aid, including two million euros via the United Nations programs.

"I gave a commitment to President Zelenskyy, [...] that we will continue to offer our practical as well as our political backing," Ukrainian media outlets quoted him as saying at a press conference in Kiev on Wednesday following his meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

"We are giving a further 5 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine - 3 million euros to be spent in Ukraine by the Red Cross for its vital work, and 2 million euros to the UN fund," the premier said.

Ireland is helping Ukraine to rebuild infrastructure and has already provided certain equipment for restoration of power supply and water purification, he said.
