Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company loads seafaring vessel with deadweight of over 45,000 tonnes

MOSCOW. July 18 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company (UDP) loaded the Ali M vessel with a deadweight of over 45,000 tonnes for the first time after conducting a ship-to-ship transfer of the cargo, Ukrainian media said, citing the company's press service.

"The export operation is being carried out as part of the unified logistics service that we introduced last year," the company said on social said.

A total of 34,000 tonnes of barley have been sent by several barge caravans from Danube ports to Constanta over the past few weeks, it said. The caravans are loaded at UDP's stevedoring center in Kilia (Odessa region) or at other terminals and then head to the Port of Constanta, where their cargo is transferred to large seafaring vessels without delay. UDP coordinates the entire logistics chain.

UDP also reported a growth of demand for transportation from Ukrainian agricultural enterprises, which are increasing their batches of agricultural products they are sending for export. The company also emphasized the importance of continuing to maintain large seafaring vessels amid the suspension of grain exports from the Odessa ports.

"The shipping company will continue to send river barge caravans to Constanta even during the traditional period of low water levels in the Danube, which may complicate the processing of seafaring vessels," the company said.
