Kazakhstan sees trade surplus drop 57% in Jan-May 2023
ALMATY. July 18 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan's trade surplus dropped 57% year-on-year to $7.4 billion in January-May 2023, the National Statistics Bureau of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms said.
The country's total trade volume grew 8% year-on-year to $55.8 billion in the reporting period, including exports that declined 7.7% to $31.6 billion and imports that increased 38.8% to $24.2 billion.
Exports to the Customs Union countries totaled $4.456 billion, or up 45.3%; and imports totaled $6.974 billion, or down 7.1%.
