UN secretary-general disappointed his proposals on grain deal were declined

NEW YORK, UN. July 17 (Interfax) - UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has said he is disappointed that his proposals on the Black Sea Grain Initiative were declined, but promised to continue efforts to facilitate the access of products from Russia and Ukraine to global markets.

"I am deeply disappointed that my proposals went unheeded. [...] But it will not stop our efforts to facilitate the unimpeded access to global markets for food products and fertilizers from both Ukraine and the Russian Federation," Guterres said.

He also said he knows that some obstacles to Russian products and fertilizers still persist, but at the same time, the UN has eliminated many of them.

The Russian side sent Ankara, Kiev and the UN its objections to the grain deal's extension on Monday.
