Polish doctor's attempt to sneak out Saakashvili's bio samples undermines trust in this mission - Georgian Foreign Ministry

TBILISI. July 17 (Interfax) - The actions of a Polish doctor, who tried to illegally take biological samples of Georgia's ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili out of a clinic, cause confusion and concern, which undermines trust in the Polish doctors' mission, the Georgian Foreign Ministry said.

A meeting with a representative of the Polish embassy took place in the Foreign Ministry on Monday.

"During the meeting, the Georgian side expressed concern over the incident with the Polish doctor. The Polish diplomat, for his part, said he does not know why the Polish doctor behaved that way," the Georgian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Zurab Chkhaidze, chief doctor of the Vivamedi clinic, said one of the Polish doctors asked to return to the ward again after all procedures to say goodbye to Saakashvili and illegally obtained biological samples were found in his shoe when he left the clinic.

Georgian Justice Minister Rati Bregadze said on July 14 that one of the Polish doctors who examined Saakashvili in the Vivamedi clinic on July 12 had been detained while leaving the clinic due to an attempt to illegally take the ex-president's biological samples.

Representatives of the ruling party Georgian Dream told reporters a provocation might be prepared.

Polish doctors examined Saakashvili in his ward for seven hours on July 12 and left the hospital without any comments. They have already left Georgia.
