Kazakhstan H1 Industrial production increases 3.8%

ASTANA. July 17 (Interfax) - The index of industrial production in Kazakhstan for H1 2023 was 103.8%, the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms said.

"During this period, industrial products were produced with a value of 22.6119 trillion tenge, of which the mining industry was 10.4902 trillion tenge, or 46.4% of the total, and manufacturing was 10.5876 trillion tenge, or 46.8%," the bureau's report says.

There was 3.7% production growth in mining and quarrying, 3.4% in manufacturing, 6.8% in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning, and 6.4% in water supply, waste collection, processing and disposal, and pollution elimination activities.

The increase in mining and quarrying comes from an increase in oil production of 5.6%, natural gas of 2.5%, ores, except for iron of 2.9% and of other minerals of 17.4%.

There were increases of 5.3% in food production, 6.6% in beverages, 2.8% in oil products, 7.8% in rubber and plastic products, 2.7% in other non-metallic mineral products, 9.5% in finished metal products, except for machinery and equipment, and 28.8% in mechanical engineering.

Production volumes increased in 16 regions of the republic, and decreased in 4.

The official exchange rate as of July 17 is 446.48 tenge/$1.
