Poland not thinking about recalling ambassador from Russia

WARSAW. July 17 (Interfax) - Warsaw is not planning to recall its ambassador from Moscow, Marcin Przydacz, head of the International Policy Bureau at the Chancellery of the Polish President, said on the RMF radio station on Monday.

"We have no such plans at present," Przydacz said when the program's host asked him about Poland's possible response to Russia's decision to close the Polish consulate in Smolensk.

"It has never been the case that only Poland recalls its ambassador while other Western European partners, such as Germany or France, leave their ambassadors in Moscow and try to maintain a dialogue," Przydacz said.

"Either all of us are present there as the EU, or we recall our ambassadors collectively," he said.

The Russian government told Interfax last Friday that "the government has adopted a directive on closing the Republic of Poland's consular agency in Smolensk" in response to Warsaw's unfriendly anti-Russian actions.
