Russian metallurgical industry expands geography of supplies, increases commodity output in short time amid sanctions - PM Mishustin

MOSCOW. July 17 (Interfax) - The metallurgical industry in Russia is successfully resolving its large-scale objectives, including those related to import substitution, amid the sanctions pressure, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said in a congratulatory message to the industry's employees and veterans on their professional holiday.

"Our domestic metallurgy has a powerful scientific and technological, production and personnel potential. It ensures Russia's leading position in the world in steelmaking, production of pipes, titanium, aluminum, high-grade nickel and copper. The industry plays a key role in the country's economy, contributes to developing related industries, reinforcing the defense capabilities of our state, and improving the well-being of millions of Russians," the prime minister said in a congratulatory telegram published on the government's website on Sunday.

Mishustin noted that the industry was successfully accomplishing large-scale objectives, including those related to import substitution, in amid the foreign sanctions pressure. "In a relatively short period of time, the companies have increased their commodity output, expanded the geography of supplies to the regions, optimized new logistics chains, and refocused exports to the markets of friendly countries," he added.

"I would like to express my gratitude for your accurate and well-coordinated work, dedication, and responsibility. I wish you more success and achievements for the benefit of Russia. I wish you and your families good health and prosperity," Mishustin said in his congratulatory message.
