Floating gas storage for Novatek's LNG terminal arrives in Kamchatka

MOSCOW. July 14 (Interfax) - The Koryak FGS (floating gas storage facility) has been delivered to the Bechevinskaya section of the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky seaport by a tugboat caravan, Rosmorrechflot said in a statement, citing the Administration of Sakhalin, Kuril and Kamchatka Sea Ports Federal State Budgetary Institution.

This is the first floating gas storage facility delivered to the construction site of Novatek's eastern offshore LNG transshipment complex in Kamchatka.

"Koryak FGS is a non-self-propelled structure with a length of 400 meters, width of 60 meters and draft in cargo of 12.2 meters. Its capacity is 360,000 cubic meters. Under the project, the complex includes two UGS facilities, the statement said.

The facility is designed to provide transshipment of LNG delivered from Russia's northern fields via the Northern Sea Route by ice rated gas tankers to Bechevinskaya Bay. After transshipment through floating gas storage facilities to non-ice rated gas carriers, LNG shipments will be transported to the Asia-Pacific region.
