FESCO to create grain complex in port of Vladivostok, invest 1.266 bln rubles

VLADIVOSTOK. July 13 (Interfax) - The FESCO transport group, whose parent company is the Far Eastern Shipping Company , will allocate 1.266 billion rubles to create a universal grain transshipment complex in the port of Vladivostok, FESCO said in a statement.

The investment project received priority status for the Primorye region.

"As part of regional support for the project, additional land plots and other assistance will be provided," the statement says.

The cargo turnover of the complex, which the group is building on the territory of berths 43-44 of the port, will total over 400,000 tonnes of various grain crops per year. Six granaries with a capacity of 5,000 tons each will be installed on the territory of the currently operating transshipment terminal.

"This will allow for operations with six different crops at the same time. The terminal space will be modernized by re-equipping the existing areas and infrastructure. The project also involves the commissioning of a modern automated line, which will allow for a loading speed of up to 500 tonnes per hour onto a ship," Vitaly Marchenko, general director of Terminal FESCO Gaydamak, who is in charge of the project to create the complex, was quoted in the statement as saying.

To speed up the shipment of goods, a new berth will be built which will allow for the simultaneous handling of two ships.

"The railway line will be lengthened on the territory of the terminal, and the areas for unloading vehicles will be modernized. This will speed up the acceptance of grain in each of these directions up to 175 tonnes per hour," Marchenko said.
