Zelensky believes NATO summit in Vilnius has laid foundation of Ukraine's security

MOSCOW. July 13 (Interfax) - The NATO summit in Vilnius has laid a foundation of Ukraine's security on its path to the alliance, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said.

"These are tangible security guarantees confirmed by the top-7 global democracies. We have never had such a foundation of security before, and this is a G7 level. We will build on this foundation a new and legally binding architecture of bilateral security treaties with the strongest," Ukrainian media quoted Zelensky as saying in a video address in the early hours of Thursday.

"Over the two days of the summit, we eliminated any doubts and ambiguities as to whether Ukraine will be part of NATO," Zelensky said. "It will. For the first time ever, not only all of the North Atlantic alliance members agree to this, but also the notable majority in the alliance is actively advancing this," he said.

Zelensky also mentioned the subject of NATO membership at a press conference in Vilnius on Wednesday. "Nobody will trade NATO membership for anything with anyone. I don't know whether everyone has been fully sincere with me and whether everything is true, but we believe our partners," Ukrainian media quoted Zelensky as saying.

"We will never trade any status for any of our territories," Zelensky said. "We won't give up our territory and will never swap it for some frozen conflict. This will never happen," he said.
