G7 countries will discuss bilateral security agreements with Ukraine, help Kiev strengthen armed forces - Biden

WASHINGTON. July 12 (Interfax) - The Group of Seven (G7) countries will engage in talks with Ukraine on bilateral security assurances and will assist Kiev with strengthening its armed forces, U.S President Joe Biden said on Wednesday.

"Each of our [G7] nations and any other nation who wishes to participate will negotiate a long-term bilateral security commitments with and to Ukraine," Biden said at a news conference which he attended together with other G7 leaders.

"We are going to help Ukraine build a strong, capable defense across land, air and sea," he went on to say.

The G7 will provide assistance to Ukraine for as long as it is required, Biden said.

At the same time, in a document on support for Ukraine, the G7 leaders expressed their readiness to provide the country with advanced weaponry. Priorities will include air defense systems, artillery, long-range weapons, armor and combat aircraft.
