VSMPO-Avisma to build section rolling complex for 21 bln rubles in Titanium Valley

YEKATERINBURG. July 12. (Interfax) - VSMPO-Avisma Corporation is planning to build a section rolling complex in the Titanium Valley Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Verkhnyaya Salda (Sverdlovsk Region), with investment estimated at more than 21 billion rubles.

The agreement on project implementation was signed by VSMPO-Avisma subsidiary VSMPO-New Technologies LLC and Titanium Valley SEZ during Innoprom on Wednesday, according to an Interfax correspondent who attended the signing ceremony.

The project is scheduled to begin as early as this year, with launch of production scheduled for 2027.

"The new complex will double existing titanium product production capacity and provide Russian strategic industries with unique high-precision products. With the new complex, we will be able to meet growing demand by expanding the range of titanium products sought in Russian priority industries," acting head of VSMPO-Avisma Nikolai Melnikov told Interfax.

VSMPO-Avisma said that the new facilities will enable the company to establish serial production of new small-diameter titanium products with high surface quality for promising projects in aviation, shipbuilding and medicine, which "will ensure import substitution of foreign products for the domestic industry."

The planned area of the production complex is 50,000 square meters, with all necessary engineering infrastructure to be created there: a boiler, water treatment, a warehouse and other facilities.

As reported, in June, VSMPO-Avisma launched a titanium parts machining complex, with investments in the project amounting to 3.2 billion rubles. As part of the project, 10,000 square meters of buildings were built, equipment was installed and the first stage of the line for semi-finished machining of rings and disks was launched. Construction of the workshop took 3 years. The investment project was implemented to increase production capacity and expand the order portfolio. The next step in the investment project will be the construction of the second stage, which will allow for the completion of finishing of rings and disks for aviation and engine building.

VSMPO-Avisma is a titanium producer with a full technological cycle: from raw material processing to the production of finished products with a high degree of machining.

The project to create the Titanium Valley industrial and production SEZ has been ongoing since 2010. The total area is 400 hectares. The first stage of the SEZ is located in Verkhnyaya Salda, the second stage - on the territory of the Uktus airport (96 hectares).
