Yamal LNG sent over 70% of its gas to Europe in 2022 - Rosatom

YEKATERINBURG. July 12 (Interfax) - The Yamal LNG project sent over 16 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Europe last year, Anna Lenskaya, director of the Rosatom office in the Urals Federal District, said.

"Russian liquefied gas is in demand; the lion's share of supplies continues to flow to Europe. By the end of 2022, Yamal LNG produced 21 million tonnes of liquefied gas, more than 16 million of which went to Europe," she said at the intersectoral Development of International Transport Corridors event, which was part of the Innoprom-2023 international exhibition on Wednesday in Yekaterinburg.

Therefore, over 76% of LNG produced by Yamal LNG was sent to Europe.

Gas from Yamal LNG is sometimes transshipped via European terminals, mostly Belgium and France, where it is loaded onto conventional ships and sent to other countries.

This year, tankers carrying Yamal LNG have traditionally "opened navigation along the Northern Sea Route, on their way to Chinese terminals," Lenskaya said.

"This year, the first ships went to Japan and Taiwan," she said.
