Ukraine has 1 year to adapt legislation to join EU roaming area - PM

MOSCOW. July 12 (Interfax) - Ukraine is determined to adapt its legislation to European standards in one year to become a party to the EU's Roam Like at Home (RLAH) regulation, Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said.

"Free roaming for Ukrainians in the EU has been extended for one year. A relevant agreement has been signed between European and Ukrainian [telecom] operators," Ukrainian media quoted Shmygal as saying at a government meeting on Tuesday.

At the same time, Ukraine has set itself an ambitious goal of joining the EU's free roaming area on a permanent basis, he said.

"We have one year to adapt Ukrainian law to European standards, after which we will become part of the Roam Like at Home agreement on a permanent basis. This would be an important step in Ukraine's sectoral European integration," he said.
