MOSCOW. July 11 (Interfax) - Ukrainian producers of meat and meat products have requested that the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food consider the possibility of exporting these products to China, Ukrainian media reported, citing the press service of the ministry.

"We have met with specialized associations and representatives of the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection before the Ukrainian official delegation's visit to China, where the details of cooperation in terms of exporting meat, including pork, will be discussed. It is important for us to discuss all the details between market participants to resolve this issue efficiently," the press service quoted Ukrainian First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotsky as saying at a meeting of the working group for the development of the meat industry on Tuesday.

China is one of the most attractive markets for Ukrainian poultry, beef and pork exporters, as Ukrainian meat exporters is currently getting most of orders from the Chinese market, the ministry said. Beef export, in particular, to this country was halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the crisis.

"There is a certain warming in trade relations between Ukraine and China at present, and the list of our beef and pork exporters is continuing to expand. Poultry export is also on our agenda," it said.

Exchange of information on key issues with Chinese customs has already taken place in order to prepare bilateral meetings between the two countries to be held soon, the ministry said.
