Moscow justice of peace fines Dropbox two mln rubles for not removing false info about special military operation

MOSCOW. July 11 (Interfax) - A Moscow justice of the peace imposed a two-million-ruble administrative fine on the Dropbox cloud service on Tuesday for not removing prohibited information, an Interfax correspondent reported.

"Dropbox International Unlimited Company is to be penalized with an administrative fine of two million rubles," Justice of the Peace Timur Vakhrameyev from Judicial District No. 422 in the Moscow Tagansky District said in his ruling.

Dropbox was found guilty of not removing prohibited information.

According to materials in the administrative proceeding, the service was charged with not removing videos and texts reported by the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) that were uploaded via two links. The videos and texts contain false information about the Russian special military operation in Ukraine authored by the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK), designated as extremist and banned in Russia.

A Dropbox representative did not appear in court, and the hearing was held in his absence.
