Kremlin does not see weakening ruble as threat to Russian financial stability, says such things happen

MOSCOW. July 10 (Interfax) - The Kremlin does not see the weakening of the ruble as a threat to Russia's financial stability, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"No, the Kremlin absolutely does not see this as a threat to national financial stability. On the contrary, as we already said last week, the situation is better that predicted," Peskov told reporters on Monday.

"As for the exchange rate, well, such things happen, and this does not endanger stability in any way," Peskov said.

Peskov said last week that fluctuations in the ruble exchange rate did not have negative macroeconomic implications.

He also said that macroeconomic indicators were actually better than expected, and economic stability was not in question.

Peskov noted that speculation usually played a significant role in the rising exchange rate and that this factor could not be ruled out now either.
