Matviyenko expects Russian-Chinese trade to top $200 bln in 2023

BEIJING. July 10 (Interfax) - Trade between China and Russia could exceed $200 billion in 2023, Russian Federation Council Chairperson Valentina Matviyenko said.

"As was noted overall [during negotiations], despite all the problems, unlawful restrictions, and attempts to restrain the development of our countries, our trade turnover is growing steadily at an even higher pace than before. There is every reason to expect that, by the end of this year, we will pass a level of $200 billion in our trade turnover," Matviyenko told journalists on Monday, following a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Over 70% of settlements between Russia and China are made in national currencies, she said.

A Russian parliamentary delegation is currently visiting China at the invitation of Zhao Leji, the chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.
