Moldova to terminate two more CIS agreements

CHISINAU. July 5 (Interfax) - The Moldovan government approved decisions on terminating two more agreements signed within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) on Wednesday, the government's press service told Interfax.

The government approved draft legislation on denouncing an agreement on technical barriers in the free trade area signed in 2000.

Moldova also intends to terminate an agreement on key areas of cooperation on consumer rights protection between the CIS countries signed in 2000.

The Moldovan government terminated two CIS agreements in May, one of them dealing with the exchange of information on protecting the external borders of CIS member states, and the other on general terms for supplying goods between CIS member states.

Moldovan parliamentary Chairman Igor Grosu also announced in mid-May that Moldova had decided to initiate its withdrawal from the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.
