Ukraine's Continental Farmers Group begins harvesting winter crops

MOSCOW. July 5 (Interfax) - Ukraine's Continental Farmers Group (CFG), which is operating in the country's western regions, has begun harvesting early grains from the threshing of barley sown on 15,900 hectares, Ukrainian media reported, citing the agroholding's press release.

Winter wheat on 28,800 ha and rapeseed on 34,700 ha, as well as spring rapeseed on 15,100 ha, will be harvested later.

"We started harvesting slightly late because of the weather, which has improved and is assisting in maintaining the quality of the crops, thus our forecasts are optimistic. Despite the cool and rainy days at the beginning of summer, the grains are ripe and ready for harvest. At the same time as the harvesting campaign, the agricultural holding is working on organizing the logistics and sale of the grown crop," CFG CEO Georg von Nolcken was quoted as saying in the press release.

CFG cultivates around 200,000 hectares of land in the Ternopol, Lvov, Khmelnitsky, Chernovtsy, and Ivano-Frankovsk regions, respectively, and the agroholding is one of the leading potato producers in the country.

Saudi Arabia's Saudi Agricultural & Livestock Investment Co. (SALIC) owns CFG. SALIC in 2019 completed the merger of Ukraine's Mriya agroholding, which SALIC bought in 2018, with Continental Farmers Group, which SALIC had already owned, under the Continental Farmers Group single brand.
