Another 100MW nuclear reactor unit repaired in Ukraine - Energy Ministry

MOSCOW. July 5 (Interfax) - Another 1,000MW nuclear reactor unit has been repaired in Ukraine, which will add capacity to the national power grid, Ukrainian media said with the reference to a statement published by the Energy Ministry on a social network.

The media said that the repairs were finalized four days ahead of schedule.

"This is a weighty contribution to the enhancement of stability of our power network and the provision of energy balance. This means stable power supply to every Ukrainian," the statement quoted Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko as saying.

Nuclear power plants generate nearly half of all electricity in Ukraine, the ministry said.

As reported earlier, Energoatom launched a VVER-1000 reactor unit in mid-June after regular maintenance, which was finalized 20 days ahead of schedule.
