Russia-China trade up 41% in January-May - Chinese consul general

YEKATERINBURG. July 4 (Interfax) - China's trade with Russia reached nearly $94 billion in the first five months of this year, up 41% compared with the same period last year, Chinese Consul General in Yekaterinburg Cui Shaochun said on Tuesday.

"I think that cooperation between the two countries is very much mutually complementary. And there are still many opportunities for development," Cui said during a presentation organized in Yekaterinburg ahead of the Russian-Chinese Expo 2023 trade fair.

Earlier reports, citing data from China's main customs authority, said that last year trade between Russia and China rose by 29.3% to a record $190.271 billion. In 2023 trade could surpass $200 billion, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin had said.

Russian-Chinese Expo is due to be held in Yekaterinburg on July 10-13 after a four-year break. The exhibition will be held parallel with Innoprom-2023.
