Zaporozhye NPP connected to backup power line from July 1 - Grossi

BERLIN. July 4 (Interfax) - The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) has been re-connected to a backup power transmission line since July 1, but the situation regarding its power supply remains fragile and unstable, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi said on Monday.

"While the reconnection of the back-up power line is positive, the plant's external power situation remains highly vulnerable, underlining the precarious nuclear safety and security situation at the site," Grossi said in a statement published on the IAEA website.

The plant's connection to the last remaining power line was disrupted on March 1 and restored on the evening of July 1, the statement said. Work to restore the power lines was hindered by the complicated security situation.
