KazMunayGas' Atyrau refinery halts operations owing to sudden power outage
ATYRAU. July 3 (Interfax) - The Atyrau Oil Refinery has halted operations owing to a sudden power outage, the press service of the Atyrau Refinery reported.
"The plant's installations came to an emergency halt because of a power drawdown," the refinery clarified.
The press service promises to provide more details later.
According to a number of media reports, an accident occurred at the Mangystau Nuclear Power Plant in the city.
There is no electricity or water supply in Atyrau in some districts of the city according to an Interfax correspondent.
The Atyrau Oil Refinery is one of three major oil refineries in Kazakhstan controlled by KazMunayGas.
There are three large refineries in Kazakhstan in Atyrau, Shymkent (PetroKazakhstan Oil Products LLP) and Pavlodar Petrochemical Plant (POCR).
